H.R.H. Princess Alexandra at the Millennium Gallery in Sunbury...

Here it is the moment I met H.R.H. Princess Alexandra at the Millennium Gallery in Sunbury. Her royal highness should have visited in October but she broke her arm and cancelled her engagements. I sent her one of my cards showing my second guide dog Amber together with a short note wishing her a full and speedy recovery. When she then arrives at the gallery on 30th January you can imagine my surprise and astonishment when she walks directly to me and greeted me with, “You are the lady who sent me the card aren’t you?” I was delighted. We chatted for a while, shook hands, she made a fuss of Mary in fact the photo shows her just taking her hand from Mary having just tickled her, a bobbed curtsey and she was on her way. A truly memorable and magical moment.

She asked me about my involvement with the gallery and about my forthcoming work for Tate Modern.  All terribly exciting as was the number of people there who knew who I was and seen my work and exhibitions and the publicist from the Tate Modern was there as part of the Art Fund representatives and she knew about me from the Tate Modern Director who I met in September…Phew!
